摘要：The decision to use Unmanned Aircraft Systems to employ lethal force opens a new debate about the strategic significance of airpower. The introduction of a capability in war which predicts future fighting as dehumanized, conducted remotely and autonomously, will have profound impacts on International Relations. Therefore, while accepting the objective operational advantages of Remote Air Warfare, this study aims to determine which strategic differentiators contribute to its future preeminence and what implications can be derived for International Relations. In seeking answers to these questions, we hold that the trend of growing preeminence of UAS proves to be indispensable, irresistible, inevitable and ultimately irreversible, threatening to transfigure, in a not so distant future, the nature of war itself. Hence, this study aims to capture the critical time of change and understand the essence of this phenomenon, inquiring about the political, ethical, legal and social implications in the nature and character of war resulting from waging Remote Air Warfare. This analysis will unveil the effects at the operational level, with impact on the conduct of war; genetic effects reflected in the change of airpower characteristics and capabilities, and political effects which impact the decision making process about the use of force.
