摘要:This study is an endeavor to compare two pieces of literary texts in terms of the embedded history and culture. The case in point is the poetic discourse data. The data at hand are two Persian songs Jomeh (meaning Friday) and Shabaneh (meaning of the night), sung by the famous Persian legendary rock singer, Farhad Mehrad. Analysis is done within the framework of new historical literary criticism. Results suggested very close interconnectedness within the two songs. Traces of strangulation as well as despair were found in both literary texts reflecting the dominant discourse of the period.
