摘要:The university library’s proactive role within the university is analyzed by applying the concept of a strategic partnership, and the typology of knowledge processes presented by Normann and Ramiréz in the framework of value constellation of networked enterprises. A defi nition for the concept of strategic partnership is proposed and the concept of social capital is defi ned. The nature of the university’s generative, productive and representative knowledge processes is described. The library’s role and tasks in these processes are examined in connection with the organizational development and requirements for new competences. Also practical examples are provided of the Total Quality Assessment of the library and information services at the University of Helsinki. It is concluded that the university library’s role in the university’s generative knowledge processes will be the major challenge. The role in the productive knowledge processes will increase, and in the representative knowledge processes it will diversify.
