摘要:The article describes the design and implementation of an intermediate level course on pedagogical knowledge and skills of information professionals based on collaboration between information science, educational science, communication science and pedagogical technology. The course was part of a pilot programme in LIS funded by The European Social Fund and conducted by the University of Helsinki and Palmenia Center for Continuing Education in 2003 - 2005. The aim of the programme was to provide new perspectives and content for training librarians and information professionals who, with a bachelor’s or master’s degree from another discipline than LIS, worked as unqualified library staff in public, academic and special libraries and information services in the Helsinki Metropolitan area. First, the theoretical viewpoint of the course emphasizing student learning is described. The course introduces new and innovative ways of applying the ideas of a pedagogical manuscript for a web-based course and of blended learning including the use of weblogs. This is followed by a detailed report of the implementation of the course. Finally, the course work and the student feedback are analyzed and recommendations made to improve the quality of the course. These recommendations stress the importance of providing comprehensive knowledge of applicable pedagogical approaches and skills to develop instruction in information literacy.
