摘要:This paper examines how health information infl uences people’s health knowledge and behaviour. Interviews with 50 Finns, either pregnant women, diabetics or a control group aged 20-42 years, form the material. The respondents were interviewed using a questionnaire, in 2001. Questions were about demographics; interest in and need for health information; information source use; opinions on health information and healthy living; health behaviour; and knowledge. Information source profi les were mapped out on basis of frequency of use and trust in a source. A cluster analysis showed three information source profi les named “the professional’s cluster”, “the popularized science cluster”, and “the everyday information cluster”. Differences were found between the clusters on health status (diabetes/pregnancy/control), interest, knowledge level and health behaviour. It seems that certain health situations lead to preference for certain information sources. Source type and seeking activity were related to knowledge level, but knowledge was only weakly related to health behaviour.
