摘要:Residents in circumpolar regions andisolated northern communities face severalchallenges to obtaining accessible oralhealth care. There are some prominentfactors specific to the Keewatin, CentralArctic and Baffin regions of Canada, nowknown as Nunavut, that limit the nature andfrequency of their dental care. They includethe tremendous prevalence of dental disease, geographic isolation, sparsely populatedcommunities that prohibit full-time dentists, philosophical differences in dental practice(i.e. treatment vs. prevention), relationsbetween the state and Indigenous persons, and Inuit self-determination (1).International Journal of Circumpolar Health 65:2 2006
