摘要:Hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, mice and chickens were tested for their susceptibility to colonisation by, and subsequent pathogenicity of, Clostridium spiroforme. Only animals receiving both clindamycin and C. spiroforme presented with scours. These animals had both the bacterium and its toxin in their intestinal contents. Hamsters and guinea pigs were both consistently colonised and died within about 24 and 28 h respectively, following challenge. Mice and rats showed variable susceptibility, while chickens were consistently refractory to challenge. Keywords: Clostridium spiroforme; Animal model; Diarrhoea; Enterotoxaemia; Rabbit
