摘要：I would like to reiterate the warm welcome that was extended to you earlier. I hope you will enjoy your time at this workshop. There are several very specific goals for the workshop that I will list later, but I want to verbalize the more general goal first. As I perceive it, the more general goal is to reaffirm the need for, and the value of, scientific interchange among scientists in academia, government and industry. Certainly, scientists in the Office of New Animal Drug Evaluation at the Center for Veterinary Medicine benefit greatly from these interchanges and particularly from our interactions with the bench scientists who ultimately conduct the experiments we conceive. Feedback from scientists like you helps us keep current with the state of knowledge and advances in laboratory practices. Because of this bene?t to us, we thank you for your willingness to come to Rockville and to share your knowledge with us.
