摘要：The year 2009 is just around the corner and so is also the first issue of Microbial Ecology in Health and Disease in the year to come. For the journal as well as for its readers it represents new opportunities and new challenges, and therefore, I will in this last issue of 2008 briefly touch upon some of things that will happen.
