In the study of the bryophytes deposited in SP herbaria one hundred forty three taxa from Brazilian states of Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Piauí and Rio Grande do Norte were identified. From these 80 are new records (46- Bryophyta, 33- Marchantiophyta and 1-Anthocerotophyta). Anthocerotophyta is represented by one genus and one family. Eighty one are Bryophyta represented by 43 genera in 24 families and 61 are Marchantiophyta, represented by 33 genera in 13 families. Weisiopsis bahiensis (Müll. Hal.) Broth. is illustrated.
