其他摘要：Aversive stimulation and directed exploration in the rat: In. order to study the effect of stimuli paired with shock on the exploratíon of a novel object, 3 groups of rats were observed. Group C (shock only) was exposed toshock, Group O (novel object only) to a novelobject and Group CO (shock - novel object) to shock and, Iater, to a novel object.. Animals in Groups e and eo had similar performances, Both had a lower level of diffuse exploratíon and a higher level of freezíng than animals in Group O. Exploration aimed at the novel object was lower in Group eo than in Group O. Tbis result was interpreted as due to competítion between an exploratory tendency and inhibition of movement produced by stimuli .associated with shock.
