摘要：Describimos la tendencia reciente en la instalación regional de sucursales bancarias, cajeros automáticos y terminales punto de venta en México y evaluamos si la infraestructura bancaria se ha expandido hacia regiones sin cobertura previa. Analizamos la relación entre dicha infraestructura y varias características poblacionales y económicas de las entidades federativas o municipios. Encontramos una mayor cobertura en las regiones más pobladas y con mayores niveles de ingreso, educación, y actividad económica formal, particularmente para bancos grandes. Hallamos también una relación inversa entre la instalación de sucursales y terminales, y el costo de transporte al municipio con sucursales más cercano.
其他摘要：We describe the recent trends that characterize the location of bank branches, automated teller machines (atm) and point of sales terminals (pos) in Mexico, and evaluate whether bank infrastructure has expanded to previously uncovered regions. Further, we analyze the relationship between infrastructure location and several economic and population characteristics of states and municipalities. Coverage is better in regions that are more populated and have higher levels of income, education and formal economic activity, especially among larger banks. We also find an inverse relationship between location of branches and location of pos, and the transportation cost to the closest municipality with a branch.
