摘要：Este trabajo tiene por finalidad revelar los rasgos territoriales del turismo en uno de los centros mexicanos de playa menos promocionados en el contexto del patrón sol-playa que privilegia el gobierno federal. El estudio se basa en la presunción de que la zona metropolitana de Tampico, no obstante la relativa desventaja que tiene frente a otros lugares de playa tropical en México para atraer turistas, es un núcleo fundamental de esta actividad que extiende su hinterland allende el propio estado de Tamaulipas y que llega hasta el árido interior del noreste y norte de México, por ser la única opción para esta población de conocer y tener contacto con el mar. En una primera parte del trabajo se presentan las características geográficas generales de esta zona conurbada, seguida por una explicación de los recursos naturales y culturales con los que ésta cuenta. En la tercera parte se halla un análisis de los resultados de una encuesta realizada entre turistas que visitaron las playas de Tampico, entre los que se destaca la atracción que éstas ejercen sobre un mercado cautivo, local, de recursos financieros limitados, interesado en visitar esta parte del litoral del Golfo de México.
其他摘要：This paper examines the territorial features of tourism in the metropolitan area of Tampico, one of the less promoted coastal resorts of Mexico. The basic assumption of the study is that, while not having the natural lure of other tropical tourist destinations in the country, such as those in the Caribbean, Tampico is a fundamental centre for tourism attracting persons living in a hinterland that comprises the semi-arid and arid lands of Northeast and Northern Mexico, and represents the only option for these people to get to know and be in contact with the sea. In the first part of the paper, we present the geographical features of this city, followed by the explanation of both natural and cultural resources found in that area. In the last part of the study we proceed with the analysis of our questionnaire-survey basically aimed at drawing the territorial shape of tourism in this coastal resort; worth mentioning, among our major research findings, is that this sea-port attracts a particular type of tourists, local and regional, with limited spending capacity.
