  • 摘要:Authors Jon Anderson , Alain Bertrand , Hamadi Konandji OAPF, BP 2537 Bamako, Mali, Cirad-Forêt, 45 bis, avenue de la Belle-Gabrielle 94736 Nogent-sur-Marne cedex, France, DNEF, BP 275 Bamako, Mali Page(s) : 99-105 Published in: 1994 With tree fodder being increasingly gathered and sent to market in town, grazing on the tree storey itself is becoming less and less common in peri-urban areas of the Sahel. Along with human and ovine population growth in large African towns, there is a corresponding increase in urban stock-rearing. Urban sheep-rearing around the traditional huts is primarily carried out for religious and cultural reasons. We describe and analyse the case of Bamako and its tree fodder supply channels. These are based on urban gatherer-merchants who gather the harvest, carry it to town on bicycle and sell it to consumers. Because of the means of transport, one woody species in particular, Pterocarpus erinaceus, is increasing being gathered on a regular basis, thereby posing a serious treat to its ecology. To overcome this problem, experiments for the sustainable management of fodder trees have carried out under the Forest Management and Production programme responsible for the forest reserves on the outskirts of Bamako. These positive trials demonstrate that sustainable use of tree fodder will be feasible if the decentralisation of natural-resource management currently considered by Mali comes into force.
