Difficulties may be subtle, resulting in changes in performance and strategies often offset by the subjects and rarely mentioned. When marked, this frontal dysfunction should raise the issue of differential diagnosis such as mixed dementia. The classical situation remains that of associated vascular lesions but other clinical situations like sleep apnoea, alcoholism or severe depression should be sought.
