The progress made by the Roman languages around the binarism of the demonstrative system has been different for every language and even if the resources that were used seem to be similar, results are unique. The Portuguese grammars set as standard norm of Portuguese a ternary system of demonstratives but actual use of language in the variety of Brazilian Portuguese, tend to show the existence of a tendency to install a binary system with a neutralization of the opposition between the forms of 1st and 2nd persons. As a possible attempt to restore the dimension of the person in different demonstrative forms, the verification of the use of locative adverbs as a deictic reinforcement has to be taken into account. In other Roman languages this remark is also seen .
