  • 摘要:VEHICULAR ADHOC NETWORK is a highly dynamic network. The security and the performance is the key issues of the network. The security enhancement may leads to the performance degradation and vice versa. It is necessary to enhance the security while maintaining the performance. This research modifies the procedure to select the group leader. The protocol named VSA is proposed in this dissertation that modifies the procedure to select the group leader. The proper selection of the group leader is necessary to secure the network. It is due to fact that any local node can transfer data to group leader, doesn’t affect the performance of network. But the group leader is used in the communication procedure. So the group leader can affect the performance of the network. In the proposed protocol the group is selected on the basis of trust value and the distance from the destination. The trust value depends upon the successful transmission performed by particular node. The simulation is performed using the NS2 tool. The simulation results shows that the performance of the proposed protocol is better than the existing protocol in terms of the packet delivery ratio, delay and the drop ratio. The difference becomes more effective with the increase in number of nodes. The proposed protocol performs better with the scenario having greater number of nodes.
