摘要:The contamination of food and feed materials with aflatoxins which have toxic, carcinogenic and mutagenic activity causes important health problems and economic losses. According to the acute toxicity tests, aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) as toxic as aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), whereas its carcinogenicity and mutagenicity is lower than AFB1. As milk and milk products are important sources of nutrients, the contamination of these products with AFM1 is a potential risk for human health. The consumption of milk by especially infants and growing children is quite high, increasing the risk of exposure to AFM1. For this reason, the maximum permissible levels of AFM1 in milk and milk products have been regulated in many countries. In this article, the presence of AFM1 in milk and milk products in the world and in our country and the potential of AFM1 risk in milk and milk products produced in our country have been discussed. Besides, the presence of AFM1 in human breast milk, the main nutrient of infants, have been evaluated.
