摘要：The Fire Management Program (FMP) of the Victorian Department of NaturalResources and Environment is responsible for the prevention and suppression of￠res on public land in the State of Victoria. This article reports on an economicevaluation of the net bene￠ts of these ￠re management activities for a represent-ative year. The FMP is calculated to yield high net bene￠ts to Victoria from itsinvestment in ￠re suppression and prevention, through a reduction in the value ofagr icultural, capital and forest assets which would otherwise be lost to bush￠res.
