摘要:The Fire Management Program (FMP) of the Victorian Department of NaturalResources and Environment is responsible for the prevention and suppression of¢res on public land in the State of Victoria. This article reports on an economicevaluation of the net bene¢ts of these ¢re management activities for a represent-ative year. The FMP is calculated to yield high net bene¢ts to Victoria from itsinvestment in ¢re suppression and prevention, through a reduction in the value ofagr icultural, capital and forest assets which would otherwise be lost to bush¢res.
