摘要:Trade allowances in the grocery industry are important but hotly debated practices, receiving attention from Congress, Federal Trade Commission and United States Department ofAgriculture. Two such allowances are slotting and failure fees. Slotting allowances are fixed feetransfers from manufacturers to retailers. These transfers are paid by manufacturers to have theirproducts included in the retail grocery store's product mix. This payment is made at the time ofproduct introduction, with the original concept to reimburse retailers for handling costs of newproducts.
