摘要：Population increases, especially in developingcountries, create the need for an ever-larger food supply.Many observers have suggested that biotechnology has thepotential to increase world food output and reduce foodinsecurity by improving crop yields and reducing croploss. As with any improvement in technology, farmers indeveloping countries must find the new advances prof-itable. Consumers in developing countries will benefit ifbiotech crops are less expensive or more nutritious thantraditional crops.
