摘要:The library at Tucson Medical Center (TMC) has been using the tailored search retrieval described by Julia B. Faust in her paper, "Tailoring on-line search retrieval to match a library's journal collection" (Bull Med Libr Assoc 1982 April; 70(2):241-3), for several years. There is one point at which we believe that her input strategy can be improved. If the list of journal codes (JC) retrieved from SERLINE is input onto SERLINE rather than SDILINE, very few time overflow messages will result when the local journal "hedge" is run against the subject search. The TMC journal hedge contains 250 to 300 titles and results in approximately five time overflows. Less time overflows occur because each journal title has only one entry on SERLINE, but many citation entries on SDILINE.
