摘要:MEDICAL libraries are usually part of larger institutions which serve a highly sophisticated and well-educated user group comprised of professionals who use the library to keep abreast of developments in their fields and to communicate with their peers via their own published works. The institutions and their libraries, however, do not seem to give enough recognition to the creation of published material resulting from the intellectual efforts of their own staff members. We have found from authors in other institutions that their administrations very often do not even know that they have published and they are sometimes not even represented in their own libraries. By recognizing the achievements of authors, medical libraries benefit from the goodwill thus engendered.
