摘要：I HAVE here an opportunity to make one of the shortest speeches ever made by anyone on any program we have ever had, a speech consisting of one sentence. It would be: "Considering the present lack (as of June 6, 1962) of sophistication of most computers and similar machines, considering the cost of $100,000 or more a year rental of those that do seem sufficient, and also considering the added cost of programming these mechanical devices, right now they have no place in the medium-size library."
