摘要：This repor t summarises the investigation of the fi rst documented outbreak of Salmonella Ty ph i m ur i u m Phage type U29 0 exhibiting tetracycline resistanc e.Typhimurium is the most commonly isolated Salmonella serovar in Australia and is responsible for the majority of identifi ed outbreaks of bacterial gastroenteritis.1,2S. Typhimurium U290 has been rec og nised as a distinct phage type in Australia since October 2000, and re-examination of phage reaction records for unclassifi able isolates by the Universit y of Melbourne's Microbiological Diagnostic Unit (MDU) suggests that the fi rst case occurred in New South Wales in October 1999
