摘要:In the last 3 years the Department of HumanServices in Victoria has recorded 3 outbreaks ofgastroenteritis believed to be associated withconsumption of 'butterfish'. In Victoria, escolar(Lepidocybium flavobrunneumand Ruvettuspretiosus) and rudderfish (Centrolophussp.) arecommonly marketed under the name 'butterfish'.True butterfish, (Scatophagusspecies) is caught asa by-catch in seine nets and traps in the shallowsof northern Australia and is very unlikely to beavailable in any of the southern states of Australia.This short report summarises the three Victorianoutbreaks
