摘要:The Medical Entomology Branch (MEB) of the TerritoryHealth Services (THS) and the Australian QuarantineInspection Service (AQIS) have coordinated and separateprograms to detect and eliminate exotic mosquitoesimported into Darwin. AQIS searches all overseas vesselsand cargo for exotic mosquitoes and conducts eliminationprocedures on positive or potential receptacles on vesselsor within 400m of a port area. Both AQIS and MEB operateegg traps (ovitrap) detection programs continuously in theDarwin Port area. The ovitraps are checked weekly (AQIS)or fortnightly (MEB) for eggs and larvae, and eggs arereared to late instar larvae for identification. The AQISonshore program is inside a 400m area of port facilities whilethe MEB programs are within port areas, in nearby suburbanand industrial areas, as well as in other vulnerable sites forimportation or establishment throughout Darwin
