Este artículo retrata el clima de guerra que se vive en la región surcolombiana, vecina de la Zona de Distensión, donde se adelantan las tortuosas negociaciones de paz entre las FARC y el Gobierno desde 1999. Se describe la perversión de los lenguajes y las representaciones de las fuerzas en conflicto y, asimismo, las manipulaciones y desfases de los relatos mediáticos y académicos. Se reseñan brevemente las narraciones y análisis de los conflictos colombianos para establecer una de sus causas más citadas y, con esa base, proponer una relación de las etapas y dinámicas de las guerras actuales hasta llegar al momento en que la globalización interviene en ellas. Concluye describiendo sus características, sus impactos en la región surcolombiana y proponiendo tareas para resistirlos.

This article portrays the climate of war in southern Colombia, in those areas adjacent to the Distension Zone where the FARC and the Government, since 1999, have been undertaking difficult negotiations. The author emphasizes the perversion of language and representation on the part of both the forces in conflict and also the manipulations and shortcomings of the media and academic accounts. On the basis of the Colombian experience, he proposes a more general explanation of the stages and the dynamics of those current wars that finally culminate in the intervention of globalization. The article concludes returning to the problem of the impact of the war on southern Colombia and proposing ways of resisting it.
