The feudal-estate ("señorío") of Montealegre del Castillo changed into an entailed-estate ("mayorazgo") in the XV Century. Therefore, even though, the municipalities of that area became "realengos" in that same century, in Montealegre del Castillo the feudal exploitation methods still continued. The jurisdictional power was redeemed in the XIX Century, as well as the señorío territorial, but the distribution of the exploitations has left a clear predominance of the small and medium sized property which contrasts with the agrarian structures of the rest of the land in the area.
