  • 摘要:The influence of ICT in schools ca nnot be overemphasized as its utility is cha nging the way studentslearn, teachers teach, and support staff work. ICT adoption in South African schools has therefore gained momentum.Whilst ICT is fully integrated into ma ny if not a ll schools in u rban a rea s in South Africa , r egretta bly the sa mecannot be said about rura l schools. This has created a 'digital divide' between rural a nd urba n schools. Theoretically,this pa per is informed by social justice theory. Methodologically, the extant litera ture relied upon to make the ca sefor ICT in Sou th Africa 's rura l schools. T he same a pproa ch is u sed to identify key c hallenges milita ting againstsmooth introduction of ICT into South African schools. T hereafter, suggestions for overcoming identified challengesare provided. T he a im is to help bridge the a pparent digital divide between rural and urban schools in South Africa
