  • 摘要:The vortex of the open suction channel may cause the vibration, cavitations and performance decreasing of the pump. In this paper, we have made the sudden enlargement profile in the open suction channel of the pump; the flo w pattern had been measured by PIV system. The experiment sho ws that when the fluid flows through the sudden enlargement, the flo w area can be divided into three parts: one part is the main flow zone, one part is the backflow zone, and the other part is called mix zone or inter-zone between the two parts. The velocity along the flo w direction is larger in the main flow zone; the magnitude in the backflow zone is smaller. The velocity fluctuation at the inter-zone is larger than that at the other two zones, and a bigger velocity deviation band is formed there
