摘要:In this paper we investigate whether supernormal profits from Islamic banking are as a result of their market power or as a result of their high efficiency level. For this act, we have exerted SCP (structure, conduct and performance) and RMP (relative Market Power) models versus X-and scale efficiencys. Our sample covers Islamic banks in nine Islamic countries in the period 2000-2010. We use the Data Envelopment Analysis technique to obtain reliable efficiency measures. Research results show that the efficient structure is an important element for profitability. Finally, capital ratios and bank size are more important factors in explaining profits for Islamic banking industry
