This study is an analysis of one year’s results (2008) of the Integral Food Program (IFP) of the Agricultural Development Institute (ADI). The purpose of the study was to create a collective learning process, especially in relation to the sustainability of the program and its contribution to the food security of the inhabitants of the Huetar Atlantic region. This document was elaborated with adaptations of the sustainable livelihood approach (SLA), using the diverse form framework. Surveys were conducted in seven settlements located in Pococi and Siquirres counties, with the participation of 64 farmers and other stakeholders involved in the program. The results show that the IFP has contributed by providing a food supply for self-consumption. However, regardless of the success achieved in the short term, there has been neither continuity nor completion of essential processes that focus on sustainability.
