We …ndthat the potential for a private label introduction may lead to priceconcessions from the national brand producer, but that actual privatelabel introduction as such may very well lead to higher retail prices onnational brands. We argue that this may have important implicationsfor the interpretation of empirical results and thepublicpolicy towardsnational brands
