摘要:The purpose of this study was to identify entrepreneurial skills required by instructors for training students for in horse husbandry for job creation and wealth generation. Four specific objectives guided the study. The beneficiaries of this study are the instructors in Schools of Agriculture, students of animal production in Schools of Agriculture, horse rearers and horse marketers. Four research questions and hypothesis guided the study. The study made us of descriptive survey research design. It was carried out in South-east, Nigeria. The population for the study was 208 respondents consisting of 93 lecturers of animal science in universities, 37 instructors of animal production in schools of agriculture and 78 horse marketers. The entire population constituted the sample for the study. The instrument used for data collection was a 75- skill structured questionnaire which was face validated by three experts. Cronbach alpha reliability method was used to determine the internal consistency of the questionnaire items. A reliability coefficient of 0.87 was obtained. Two hundred and eight copies of the questionnaire were administered to the respondents but two hundred and two copies were retrieved. The data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions while Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of probability and at 199 degree of freedom. It was found that all the 75 entrepreneurial skills identified in horse husbandry were required by instructors for training of students in Schools of Agriculture. From the hypothesis tested, it was found that there is no significant difference in the mean response of lecturers, instructors and marketers in all the 75 entrepreneurial skill items except 2. It was there for recommended that the seventy-five (75) identified entrepreneurial skills required by instructors for training of students for competence in horse husbandry be package and used to improve the curriculum of animal production in schools in south-eastern Nigeria for job creation and wealth generation by the students on graduation.
