摘要:This article provides an insight into the teaching/learning process of English as a second foreign language in the context of the degree on Translation and Interpreting taught at Universidad Pablo de Olavide. It begins by examining the didactic recommendations presented by the European Space for Higher Education and their impact on the new degrees in Spain (i.e., grado as against licenciatura). It then describes the important curricular innovations introduced in the subject “English as a C Language” last academic year, which focused on the development of the students’ competences through a task-based communicative approach and continuous assessment. The results achieved in 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 are then analysed and discussed, and from the evidence obtained it is argued that such methodology is extremely effective in helping learners to achieve their goals.
