The aim of this paper was to compare results of Eating Disorders Inventory (EDI) in two groups of girls one included the girls hospitalized because of eating disorders, the other – completely healthy girls.
456 girls (78 – with eating disorders, 378 – healthy) aged 15-24 years were examined using EDI. The average age of the girls with disorders was 19.4 years; of the healthy ones – 19.7 years.
The results of p-Spearman correlation showed a statistically significant positive correlation between the age of the girls with eating disorders and seven EDI scales, and a negative correlation between the age of healthy girls and six EDI scales.
Older girls with eating disorders show a stronger wish to be slim. They are characterized by the feeling of worthlessness, perfectionism, dissatisfaction with their appearance, difficulties in recognizing their own emotions, and needs, and in establishing positive relationships with people.
