摘要：The objective of this study was to analyze the evolution of the cycle frequency and the use of the wash riding technique during a 5000-m competition in 75 female kayakers (40 junior and 35 senior). The analyzed variables were obtained from the recording of a section of the race near the start, the end and the intermediate stags of the competition circuit. The highest values of the cycle frequency were at the start. After that, this variable decreased during the race, but finally it increased near the finish. The wash riding technique was non-existent at the beginning and at the end of the competition, having this variable a major presence in the development of the contest. This technique was used by the 52% of the paddlers at 3000 m and the 40% at 4000 m. In addition, cycle frequency was higher in those paddlers that used the wash riding technique at 3000 m. The wash riding position used in competition was the lateral one meanwhile the navigation in the V was not used by any paddler.
