摘要:Over the past few decades, there has been a dramatic surge in the use of media bychildren and adolescents. Findings from a current survey in the United States thatchildren aged 8 to 18 years spend an average of 7 hours and 38 minutes on entertainmentmedia every day [1] are indeed alarming.The scenario in India shows a similar trend inmedia usage with Indian children spending more than two hours of their time on thetelevision daily [2]. This increased exposure to the media has profound effects on thedevelopment and functioning of children and adolescents today. Media does have apositive role in the fields of education, culture, sports, and news. However, the negativeimpact of media on the physical, psychological and social development of children is tobe given serious consideration as well
