摘要：Over the past two decades the trend of privatizing local government services has increased significantly. The reliance on private sector is considered as a paramount solution to the rising problems of local government as it aims at providing quality services in a cost effective manner. Thus, contracting out is globally becoming a common strategy for local governments. With the help of primary and secondary data the present study examines the process and performance of contracting out by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh. The study assesses the success through analysis of the citizen satisfaction responses of local paid parking services that have been contracted out. Through this analysis the study also provides suggestions which will help in improving contracting out as a viable solution for providing services in cost effective manner
