摘要:Computer technology has become an integral part of most educational landscape. In Guyana, likemany developing countries, educators are cognizant of the benefits of the integration of computertechnology but due to economic constraints have been unable to equip their mathematicsclassrooms adequately.Based on this reality, educators were introduced to the one computerclassroom that is known to offer a cost-effective way to accelerate high quality delivery of themathematics curriculum especially to students with average and below average mathematicalability. The main objective of the study was toexamine the impact of computer aided instructionon students' performance. Eight student-teachers from eight secondary schools and 190secondary school students were involved in the study. The findings revealed that the computeraided instruction did not only improve students' performance but their level of retention ofknowledge was higher. However, females made more significant progress than the malesfollowing the computer aided instructions. The most striking result was that the experimentalgroup with students who were below mathematical ability recorded the highest 'true' differencemean for both the post-test and the re-test
