摘要:There is a great need for having reliable and accurate positioning technique for many wireless network technologies such as the Wireless Ad Hoc Networks, Wireless Sensor Networks, Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks, and Wireless Local Area Networks. In addition, the Mobile Computing which still in the development phase requires good localization system for the mobile nodes. The system must allow each node to know precisely its current position or location in real time. Despite the many works that exist in the literature in this area, all of the proposals have some limitations. The features of optimal system are accurate, reliable, scalable, lightweight, and inexpensive. There are many works for the use of the Received Signal Strength (RSS) as a positioning system. However, in these works the accuracy of the positioning is very bad, about 50 meters. In this paper, we provide positioning technique based on the RSS and satisfy the mentioned optimal system features. The obtained experimental results showed an accuracy that can be better than only 2 meters. This huge improvement is due to the way by which the system is used to minimize the radio interference and the near-far problems.
