摘要:In wireless communication systems, Pulse shaping filter plays an important role in multirate signal processing for error removal. In this paper a Gaussian filter is designed by considering the oversampling factor i.e. the number of samples per symbol and number of symbol periods between the start of the filter impulse response and its peak. The oversampling factor determines the sampling frequency and the filter length and hence, plays a significant role in the Gaussian FIR filter design. The approximation errors in the design can be reduced with an appropriate choice of oversampling factor. First, oversampling factor of 16 has been selected to design the discrete Gaussian filter and subsequently it is reduced to 4. It can be observed that smaller oversampling factor means smaller sampling frequency which results in spectral overlap that results in aliasing. The proposed filter has been designed and simulated using Matlab, synthesized with Xilinx Synthesis Tool (XST), and implemented on Spartan 3E based 3s500efg320-5 FPGA device. The developed video filter structure can operate at an estimated frequency of 13.336 MHz by utilizing 20 multipliers and 1380 LUTS of target FPGA device
