摘要:The aim of this research was to examine potential peer and school predictors of peer violence on the sample of Croatian primary school children. While controlling for gender, age and school success, the aim was to ascertain which of the selected peer predictors (number of friends, social status and peer acceptance) and school predictors (school climate and safety in the school surroundings) predict overall, verbal and physical peer violence, and overall, verbal and physical victimization. 262 pupils from 5th to 8th grades of primary school participated in the research. The pupils completed the Questionnaire of violence among school children, School climate questionnaire and the sociometric procedure. Results have shown that the selected predictors explain physical peer violence best (31.9%), then verbal victimization (33%). After controlling for individual variables, the number of friends, social status and school climate were significant predictors of peer violence, while the number of friends, social status, peer acceptance and school climate were significant predictors of peer victimization. The research has shown that peer and school variables have a significant influence in predicting peer violence and victimization. However, a significant part of peer violence and victimization variance remains unexplained. Thus, future research should examine some other variables, such as the family and media, as potential predictors.
