摘要：The fundamental target of this essay is to analyze and to reveal the multiple philosophical currents on which Physical Education, Sport and Recreation have been maintained during their emergence and historical evolution. In addition to the author’s interpretation, the study was based on the course of actions and the analysis of information taken from printed and electronic materials, also on a strategy that implies the historical - critical approach. The above mentioned strategy allowed examining the Materialist and Idealist philosophy from a critical perspective. All this gave place to conclusions that rest directly and inversely on: 1. A physical education philosophy, which had been portrayed in this work, this presents marked absences and it is hidden a large back of not used resources, which if it is revealed undoubtedly would point towards a positive development of the same one. 2. Knowing the meaning of the physical - corporal and sports activity from the predominantly philosophical angle. That in deed constitutes a transcendental fact that will allow the physical cultures to value the importance of these for the biopsychosociocultural development of the human being
