摘要:This paper acknowledged the significance of Small and Medium scale Enterprises (SMEs) as the engine room of industrialization and that the influence of demographic factors is highly suspect. It therefore opined that though demographic factors influence small scale enterprises, the strength and direction of the influence has not been established with the precision necessary to arrest and harvest the “artisan ingenuity” for bridging both the performance and generational gap of industrialism. The paper therefore subjected the prominent factors suspected to have influence on SMEs, to factor analysis to obtain a matrix which was further rotated. It was found that demographic variables collectively affect the performance of SMEs albeit individual variables affect it differently. For example the symmetric measures of age, among others, showed an interval by interval Pearsons R value of 0.95 significant at 0.001 with an asymptotic standard error of 0.059. It also showed the distinctiveness associated with the various reasons why people found SMEs. Finally, the study established the existence of a significant incidence between the level of Strategic Management Approach (SMA) practiced and the level of corporate performance of SMEs the synergy existing in the interplay of demographic factors and the founding of small scale business.?E鳻
