摘要:Deterioration of balancing reaction with increasing ages was investigated by the balance board. A total of 172 subjects (76 males and 96 females) who had no osteoart hropathy and no trouble in daily living participated in the study. Thirteen items tested had negative correlation with the age, which suggests that this test may be available for evaluating the balancing reaction. Examination of the total point obtained revealed deterioration of balancing reaction in males over the age of 40 and in females 50. The average point of each item decreased with increasing ages. Thirteen items can be divided into three degrees according to those average points; I) high average point (easy), II) middle (moderate), and III) low (hard). In clinical application, the test starts at II) and then optimum degree should be found for each patient. Deterioration of balancing reaction has such a heavy influence on daily livin g of the aged that appropriate evaluation of balancing reaction by this test plays an important role in planning their physical therapy menu.
