摘要：The purpose of the study was to analyse the role of multinational banks in sustainable economic development. The study was done after realizing that despite the presence of huge multinational banking institutions, and the positive improvements in the economy after the introduction of multiple currencies, most companies and households were still faced with liquidity challenges. Multinational banks (MNBs) are major players in the financial system of the country; however their commitment in economic development remained questionable. The paper employed multi-method approaches by combining both questionnaire survey data and aggregate firm level data mainly from secondary data sources. A case study approach was used to collect firm level data. It was found that MNBs did not contribute much in the economic development of Zimbabwe, contrary to what was found in other markets.
