摘要:In this paper we try to prove that Dickens, who had read Cervantes, took Monipodio's courtyard as a starting point or at least as his point of reference for the creation of the clan made up of Fagin and his wards. Dickens recreated his characters in a pillage and petty thief enviroment similar to Rincón and Cortado's in the spanish novel, with its sociocultural peculiarities and overcoming the temporal difference between the two writers.
