摘要:This work deals with the creation and subsequent closing of the first council seminary in Santa Fe of Bogota. In the first part, we approach the obstacles encountered by the archbishop Zapata de Cárdenas in order to rely upon a learned and native clergy close to him, and in the second part, we deal with the seminary's foundation and the reasons for its early closing. The purpose is to show that seminaries were not just schools for clergymen, but instruments of the episcopate power, which goal was the settlement of the diocesan church in the West Indies. In order to study them, it is necessary to offer an account of the ways in which powers were organized in each diocese.
